Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens 10th Anniversary Retrospective

Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens was released 10 years ago today. It was the kickoff to the official Star Wars sequel trilogy.

It was directed by JJ Abrams, who previously directed the successful Star Trek Kelvin timeline films, MI3 and Super 8.

It stars Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa and Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca.

It is easily the best film of the 3 official Skywalker saga sequel films. Personally, it’s my second favorite behind The Last Jedi (2017). It is my 8th favorite Skywalker saga film overall.

The sequels turned out to be quite a letdown but there’s still a lot to like. This was a solid start to a rocky and incoherent trilogy. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years already. Where does the time go?
