Toy Story 30

Happy 30th anniversary to Toy Story. This is a fitting first post to kick off my film blog. It was released November 22, 1995. This is probably one of the few movies I had growing up that impacted me the most. I love Pixar and the creative stories they tell. The first computer generated animated film was a big feat and changed the world. It’s hard to believe how fast the time can go. The sequels are just as fun and exciting and I look forward to Toy Story 5 coming next year.

 The Hollywood Heritage Museum is a collection that is housed in the Lasky/DeMille barn.  It sits off of Highland Ave in Hollywood across from the Hollywood Bowl.  HOLLYWOOD'S FIRST MAJOR FILM COMPANY STUDIO ONE-HALF OF THIS STRUCTURE, THEN IN USE AS A BARN, WAS RENTED BY CECIL B. DEMILLE AS THE STUDIO IN WHICH WAS MADE THE FIRST FEATURE-LENGTH MOTION PICTURE IN HOLLYWOOD, "THE SQUAW MAN" IN 1913. IT WAS ORIGINALLY LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF SELMA AND VINE STREETS, AND IN 1927 WAS TRANSFERRED TO PARAMOUNT STUDIOS. ASSOCIATED WITH MR. Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens 10th Anniversary Retrospective

 Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens was released 10 years ago today. It was the kickoff to the official Star Wars sequel trilogy. It was directed by JJ Abrams, who previously directed the successful Star Trek Kelvin timeline films, MI3 and Super 8.  It stars Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa and Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca. It is easily the best film of the 3 official Skywalker saga sequel films. Personally, it’s my second favorite behind The Last Jedi (2017). It is my 8th favorite Skywalker saga film overall.  The sequels turned out to be quite a letdown but there’s still a lot to like. This was a solid start to a rocky and incoherent trilogy. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years already. Where does the time go?
